It's Official...Again
I saw the print proof of Weird Wasatch today. It's weird (no pun intended) to see a physical book with my name in big, bold letters on the cover.

Weird Wasatch Coming Soon
Yikes! 18 months since my last post here. Time flies when your writing and editing.
For a while I had an author page on Facebook where I'd post occassionally, but...yeah. Not anymore.
Previously I had made mention of an anthology, Valcoria: Awakenings, that was due out in October 2017. It was actually pushed to December 2017. The e-book is available through Amazon. There have been delays with printing, so no hard copies exist yet.
I have another contract in place with Immortal Works for the retelling of the myth regarding the origin of death. I don't have a release date for that anthology yet.
The big BIG NEWS is that another anthology project, Weird Wasatch, which I pitched, spearheaded, and edited - with the help of the amazing Holli Anderson - is due out next month! I just got the proof copy this morning, then it's on its way to the printer. The ultimate goal for launch is at Fyrecon, June 21-23, where I'll also be presenting a seminar about worldbuilding and fantasy cartography. I might get drawn into some other panels and roundtable sessions, if they need another talking head.
So that's what I've been up to during this span of radio silence.

Potential Projects
Again, more time has gone by and I'm just chugging along.
I should have my first edit job done by next week, and then I might take a little time to work on some of my own projects before taking on another manuscript. Unfortunately, the second piece that I was going to review was withdrawn by the author, but for very good reason - the author got an agent. Congrats and best of luck to her in her endeavors. I wish I could name names and titles, but alas, I probably shouldn't. I'm sure her work will be on bookshelves in the near future anyway.
I recently submitted a 2,500 word short story to Immortal Works for a mythology anthology they're putting together. I might attempt to be the head honcho of another short story anthology, since I have a few ideas, but I'd like to see what other writers to add to the kitty.
More to come.

Somewhat of A Progress Report
In the few weeks since my last post...
I'm still reviewing my first assigned manuscript from Immortal Works.
I've got another waiting on the heels of the first.
I got one who's premise had promise, but the prose needed some polishing.
That's about as much as I can say in regards to any of them. It's how the business works. If you want to discuss a book:
A) Wait for it to be published.
B) Buy it and read it.
C) Recommend your friends do the same.
I'm still dipping my quill (albeit minimally). I know that's no excuse, but between a full time job, a wild toddler, and editing (and Facebook, and Youtube, etc.) I'm afraid I've fallen into neglecting my own stuff.

One Small Step, One Giant Leap
This morning I signed my first publishing contract.
My editor had already told me it was a go, but signing my name on the official paperwork was still momentous!

New BIG News!
After checking with my editor/mentor today, I was given the go ahead to post more about our project, "The Valcoria Anthology" currently under contract with Curiosity Quills, due out in October 2017.
But because I wrote my short story under the name C.J. Workman, which I'll continue to write under, I decided to create this new blog to go along.
For any other new/would-be authors out there, be sure to check out the Submissions page over on Immortal Works as well.
Stay tuned.
